Wanderer

Prone to wander

Lord, I feel it

Prone to leave the God I love

Here’s my heart, oh,

Take and seal it

Seal it for Thy courts above.

When I woke, Lord,

A new sinner

I knew not Your lovely face.

Only from Thine drawing near me

Have I knowledge of Your grace.

Cast out in my hate of goodness

In my chains I sought out life

While unknowingly, link by link,

Bound my own hands down to my side.

Being lover of the darkness

Became blinded by the light

And by loosing all my vision

Regained gift of precious sight.

Oh my God who won’t abandon

Even in a sinners flail

To earn grace of great approval

Attempts proved to no avail.

Oh the sufferings I have once known

Long forgotten, far behind

Let me then, forever praise you,

Bind my wandering heart to Thine.
